Every Rose Has Its Thorn

POSTED ON: Monday, 26 August 2013 @ 22:36 | 0 comments

Ever since my lecture gave me typography as my homework, I've thought something that related to flower. Then, I searched for some inspirations, and voila,  I found a song, Rose by Lee Hi (Korean Singer). Personally I really like the song from the first time I heard it, and after watched its music video, i really fell in love with this song. As I read the lyric's translation, it really has a deep meaning, which it tells us that everyone has their own 'thorn' that can hurt the others and also it tell us that person's outlooks may be looks beautiful, but it would not guarantee that they are actually really fine inside. Below is the music video of Lee Hi - Rose.

So, my works finally done with this song as its inspiration. And fortunately, my lecture said it's nice! yay /dancing/

I still remember the day I was so into photography and I can say that I had big passion in photography. I could spent hours just to clean my camera's body and lenses, and i could struggling with my lovely laptop all day long just to self-study about photography. Even those camera things are heavy, I was willing to carry them everywhere. Yeah, i love photography that much. Although now I'm focused myself in fashion studies, I still love photography. Talking about which is my favorite photo, this one is always been my favorite photo. Why? I captured this photo 3 years ago, when my class went to charity, and before the charity started, we were asked to do some challenge, there was a box with money inside and we were asked to open it. I can feel there's strong friendship-bond in the photo, those are my friends and they tried to solve the problem together. They look really happy and it seemed like they were really having fun solving it together, don't they?

Claude Monet

Claude Monet

(1840-1926)

Claude Monet is a French landscape painter. He was the primary inspiration and the leading figure in the growth of impressionism, one of the art movement which has a characteristics including relatively small, thin, yet visible brush strokes, open composition, emphasis on accurate depiction of light in its changing qualities, ordinary subject matter, inclusion of movement as a crucial element of human perception and experience, and unusual visual angles. Monet’s works itself are uncountable, since he was doing painting in all his life, but there are some of his famous works,  such as The Woman in the Green Dress or La femme à la robe verte (was painted in 1866, brought him recognition and fame), Impression, Sunrise or Impression, Soleil Levant (depicting a Le Havre port landscape and it hung in the first impressionist exhibition in 1874), and Water Lilies (series of approximately 250 oil paintings that depict Monet’s flower garden at Giverny, and were the main focus of Monet’s artistic production during the last thirty years of his life). What I adore from Monet, is that he never satisfied with merely imitating or just following his old masters, he would rather try something new, look out of a window or visit some place in nature and draw what he saw. He has a big passion in art, and never stopped painting, even when he suffered from cataract. Monet boldly captured the essence of natural world using strong colors and bold, short brushstrokes. He were making his own styles, and turning away from the classical painting techniques and styles.

[My private collection of McQueen, 'Alexander McQueen Evolution' book by Katherine Gleason]

Every designer surely has their own inspiration, so do I (as a soon to be designer, of course). Actually i have 3 designers, who has been always my inspiration since the first time i wanted to become designer. And in this post i will review one of them. Can you guess who is he? I'm sure he has been everyone's inspiration, not only me. And yes, He is 'almighty' Lee Alexander McQueen. I think I shouldn't write his biography, because it can be found here, instead I will write why I like him. First of all, his creations are 'jaw-dropping'. They are unique, extraordinary and rare. He's always thinking out-of-the-box, which it makes his creations spectacular. He was ferociously creative. And he had a laser-guided vision of what he wanted to do. He dares to be different, even some of reporters gave him a bad critics, he never mind it because he believes it's his own style and no one can change it. In fact, he became famous and known all over the world. No wonder he has been called many things, including genius, misogynist, a bull in china shop, the leading British designer of his generation, and many more. Throughout his life, he has presented approximately 36 shows. Started from 'Jack the Ripper Stalks His Victims' which is his graduation show in 1992, until his last show, 'Plato's Atlantis' for Spring/Summer 2010. McQueen's show was always a dream affair, and one to be long anticipated - knowing nothing except to expect the unexpected. It's hard to choose which one is my favorite show, but if I have to choose, there are several shows:

The Horn of Plenty
Fall/Winter 2009-2010

Plato's Atlantis
Spring/Summer 2010

But sadly, his career came to an abrupt end. He was found dead by his own hand on February 2010. And now we can only look back, reflect on his body of work and see what a genius he was.

Up in the Sky

POSTED ON: Thursday, 8 August 2013 @ 01:06 | 0 comments

"It's so fluffy, I'm gonna die!" this famous line is from a well-known movie 'despicable me', and this us also my first reaction every time I see those clouds in the sky. I had nothing to do this afternoon, so I decided to take a look on my old pghotos, and then I found this photo. It was taken years ago, when I was on my trup to Malaysia, I was bored on the plane so I took so many photos of clouds because  I don't know why I found them interesting, maybe it is because the color composition of the picture, mostly are blue and white and it's kind of like relaxing and peaceful feelings every time you see them on the sky, and it also reminds me of my childhood. When you were a little kid, don't you ever wish to have an ability to fly up to the sky and reach those fluffy clouds? Back then when I was a kid, I always thought that clouds is a pile of cottons, and I could lay on it, even grab some of them and bring them back home (lol I know it sounds so cheesy, but nah, it is only children's thought anyway). And yeah, that's my random thought about clouds, what about you?
